Your First Visit

First thing's first

The mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy (mHBOT) chambers are Class II medical devices and require a prescription for use. If you do not have a prescription from your doctor, we can refer you to someone who can provide you with one. Referring partners will generally call you within 24 hours to set up a 5-10 minute phone consultation. With your permission, they will send us a copy for our records. Prescriptions from referral partners are free of charge for your initial session.

Here’s what to expect during your first visit to Holistic Hyperbarics:

When you arrive, we’ll have you fill out consent forms and basic health information in our lobby area. Once you’ve completed the paperwork, we’ll bring you into the treatment room. An HH staff member will go over key features of the chamber and how it works. You’ll also be given an oxygen mask that will be sanitized and kept in storage until your next session.

Once you’re settled inside the chamber, you’ll begin your dive. As the chamber pressurizes, the staff member will remain in the room, communicating through an intercom system to walk you through the process. When you’ve reached your dive (at about 5 to 7 minutes), the staff member will do a final check to make sure you’re comfortable. Once you give us the thumbs-up, the staff member will adjust the lighting and leave you to relax. You can always reach us during your treatment using the intercom.

There are several amenities for you inside the chamber: a remote-controlled fan and lighting, pillows and blankets, and eye pillows.

Your first session will be 60 minutes (medical benefits start at 45 mins). At the end of this time, the staff member will walk you through depressurization. We recommend a resting period of 5 minutes once you’re out of the chamber. We offer vitamins and refreshments to help you re-acclimate following the treatment.

How To Prepare for Your First Visit

We encourage you to:

  • Wear comfortable, loose clothing;
  • Have a snack before your session;
  • Bring a book or iPad/phone (and headphones) if you’d like entertainment.

We ask that you refrain from the following 4 hours prior to treatment:

  • Carbonated beverages, including kombucha;
  • Smoking or other means of nicotine delivery;

  • Hallucinogenic or other psychoactive substances;

  • Sleep medications or any other drugs that might make you drowsy.

Please remember to bring a valid ID. Clients under 18 must have a legal guardian sign off on their treatment. Children under 12 are required to be accompanied in the chamber.

We look forward to treating you!
