John Hip Replacement Recovery

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a powerful treatment that is proven to aid in surgical recovery. HBOT involves breathing 100% infused oxygen inside a pressurized chamber. This enables oxygen to reach every part of the body, where it both repairs damaged cells and encourages new cellular growth (1). At the same time, HBOT promotes circulation and stem cell growth, which reduces inflammation and supports the immune system (1).

For decades, HBOT has proven effective for treating a multitude of medical conditions, including diabetic ulcers, bone infections, and radiation injury (2).

HBOT aids in surgical recovery by oxygenating tissue, increasing collagen production, and reducing inflammation. At Holistic Hyperbarics, we have treated many post-operative patients. One of our greatest post-op success stories is John. John came to Holistic Hyperbarics after a hip replacement. While camping, he had slipped, fallen, and broken his hip.

John benefited from an active, healthy lifestyle, and suffered no surgical complications or infections. His main goals with HBOT were regaining mobility and recovering from hip replacement surgery. He started HBOT within a week of his surgery, and completed the post-op protocol of 30 sessions. Because he’s so active, John struggled with taking it easy after surgery. He told us that HBOT taught him a valuable lesson about resting and taking care of himself. His advice to HBOT patients is: “You are there to rest and to take care of your body, and this is just an opportunity for yourself to relax. Really give yourself the time and recognize the importance of letting your body heal. There's a tendency for so many of us in this culture to think, ‘well, I’m not doing anything,’ when in fact that’s not true at all, your body is doing lots of stuff.”

At Holistic Hyperbarics, we want to help you heal after surgery. If you or a loved one has recently had surgery—or is scheduled for surgery—please reach out. Our knowledgeable staff will explain the HBOT protocol for surgical recovery, and get you started on the path to healing. Our mission is to help you heal faster and heal better, so we can restore your mobility and get you on a path toward wellness. We look forward to serving you.
